What an acceptable position to be put in.
I can't watch it! The horror! No, I stay well away from all of this sort of shit, except Strictly Come Dancing, when I get the chance to see it. I love that, for some reason.
It's just too awful to contemplate, however there are theories that circulating apparently that they meant to do it. Whatever, hideous for the presenter.
Not that I watch this show, but I have a number of friends who work on the show/were there on the night so have the 'real' story...
The abbreviated version is that they couldn't put the winner's name on the autocue (because the contestants would see it), so during the ad break Sarah was given an update of the scores with Kelsey ahead. She was apparently later told that Amanda had taken the lead, but obviously the whole crew are on comms so at the crucial moment she heard the director say (to the cameramen) "tight shot of Kelsey" or similar (i.e., to get a disappointed reaction shot) and that was the name that came out...
It wasn't a publicity stunt.
