Thankfully most things have already been invented.

Imagine this.

You've found yourself on earth, before the time most things have been invented. So we're talking about a world void of things like the internet, cars, hybrid fruit, weapons of mass destruction and cake.

You've got a couple of basics like fire and the wheel. Maybe even electricity if you got all whiney about it.

What would you invent?

Me, I think it would be hot water bottles. Possibly even baths. And I'd dream of showers, but I know the only way I'd be able to make them happen would be if I was also magic.

And even though I'd like to think I'd invent the umbrella, I am confident my hard drive would need a lot more gigs to pull that puppy off.

What would you invent ?

Stairs.

Nice. Unfortunately I don't think they even would occur to me!

It hs long been my fear that I'll be time-transported back to a pre technological age and have to explain (or even invent!) things like lightbulbs and tv. And I will have no idea how.

So I'm too scared to try ad consider what I'd invent because the fear of not being able to alarms me so.

I find pretending you could always be magic fixes a whole lot of unnecessary fretting.

Fermented beverages, of course.

I have actually thought about this occasionally. I think money, the printing press, and indoor plumbing are the best ever inventions.

But if I were transported to such I time I would want to have a skill that is valuable to a, probably, feudal king. I am currently reading a several thousand page book called "The Gun and Its Development," in the hopes I can learn how to make gunpowder.

In a couple weeks I may be prepared for such a time (or deserted island).

Otepoti, I think you need to be on my island!

I'd second the need for a shower and given that, take it that someone else had already come up with plumbing for taps and loos.

I'd want books which would require a printing press.

If someone else had come up with clothes, plumbing and electricity a wshing machine would be handy.

I second all those. And if someone could put their hand up for soap, I'd really appreciate it.

The zip.

Wow, that's advanced! I reckon I could have fashioned a blunt needle and sewn something together, but a zip? That's like inventing the Internet.
