Whatever happened to John Cusack?

I always fancied myself a bit of him after Grosse Pointe Blank and High Fidelity, but ever since then, well, pass the nuts.
And I have been vaguely suspicious that he wears eyeliner, but then - am I doing him a disservice?

I don't think he's aging too well. He looks a little like Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man.

Wasn't he in The Journey of Natty Gann back like in the 80's when he was young and hot? John, not Dustin.

the same goes for robert de niro and al pacino. someone needs to tell these people that they need a wee 15 year stand-down from making crap.

He did Janie !

You're right Ess Jay. Al Pacino was so much better looking before he got work down.

Yay!

Someone else likes John Cusack! I have both films on my PC and play them often. Fantastic humour and, in my humble opinion, John's career highlights so far.

The fact that on High Fidelity (everybody - read more Nick Hornby - it will enrich and "en-happy" your lives!) JC serves as a producer as well as co-wrote the screenplay serves my premise that this is a truly great film and that Mr Cusack has superb taste.

As do you, Ms Kate of the Laughyness. Pass the nuts over my way, if you would be so kind?

It's all been downhill for him since "Say Anything."

I'd add another decent movie he was in: 1408. Best horror in ages, and Cusack's what made it good.

laughykate said...

Hiya BK, and thank you for that. Must take a look.

Not that I'm the arbiter of good taste in films, BUT............

Please, please only watch Must Love dogs if you have a stomach upset and need to ensure that every last stomach content is removed (doctors now prescribe that movie in drug overdose scenarios).

However, 1408 is actually genuinely scary and not a half bad film.

In my extremely humble opinion, of course.

I think you give very wise advice XChequer.

I'm a wise man - or so my dog tells me.

America's Sweethearts ruined him in my eyes.

I didn't watch it by choice, by the way, I watched it by transcontinental flight. Abhorrent.

laughykate said...

Radge, that's a bad combination - bad movie and bad food.

I loved him on High Fidelity too, but not as much on his newer films (though i have seen them all more than one time).

I think High Fidelity is my most often-watched film.
