Saturday's Advice.

Since I am doing a lot of work with the police at the moment, I am learning all manner of interesting things.

Today's nugget: if you drive a horse drawn vehicle without lights and you get caught, that'll be a $55 fine, thank you very much.

Just in case you were considering it.

My dad likes to tell a story about a guy who got arrested for drunk driving and lost his license. His horse was trained to make its way home. So the guy would ride his horse drawn wagon to the bar and the horse would take him home at the end of the night.

I don't think the cops liked that either.

Okay. I guess that makes sense. Where the hell are you?

LK: You have opened the can to all sorts of interesting laws--
"In the state of Alabama people are not allowed to drive while blindfolded" i.e. there might, just, just, might, be the possibility of an accident. Very sensible law.
Perhaps you might like to expand this topic.
In the US of A, "the penalty for jumping off a building is death." Yes, but?-- is this before or after you die?
Great blog.

Heh, it also brings the 'There was horse that walked in to a pub' joke alive.

I suppose it does. Jayne. And I am both in 2011 and Auckland.

Yes the Alabama law is true- lots of examples on the net. Just thought I would point you to other sensible areas apart from Walmart and family pics; we have all learnt much from from these and now dress better.
One that took my fancy:
"The head of any dead whale found on the British coast is legally the property of the King; the tail, on the other hand, belongs to the Queen - in case she needs the bones for her corset.".
--- can see a tribunal claim coming up, shortly.
